Farewell to Billy
On Sunday ( 20 July) Kings Road Church will say farewell to Billy Milton who has been their Pastor for the past 13 years. During that time Pastor Milton, a Scotsman who moved south to do a BA in Theology at London School of Theology in Northwood, has been instrumental in introducing many changes including employing a youth worker and a children`s worker. changing the church name, buying another church building to use for youth and community work and the church`s moving out of their old church building in Kings Road to meet each Sunday in Bridgewater School to accommodate the growth in numbers attending.
Over the years Pastor Milton has been involved in a wide variety of church ministries and will be sorely missed by the church and the local community, at the weekly Toddlers’ Groups, Alpha Courses, debt counselling courses, parenting courses and marriage preparation classes. Pastor Milton, a former accountant, is moving back into the corporate world and will be putting much of what he has learnt over the past 13 years into good use as he trains executives in leadership skills, communication skills and public speaking. He leaves with the blessing of the congregation who will only have a short wait until the new Pastor (Mr Ray Toms from Bromley in Kent) starts in October.
As he contemplated the future Pastor Milton said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this wonderful church for the past 13 years and it is with mixed feelings and a deep sense of thankfulness to them, and to God, that I now leave to pursue this new chapter in my life. It has been a privilege to share in the lives of so many people, the sorrows and joys, the celebrations and the sad times, and I will always look back with a genuine love for them for allowing me to serve alongside them in this way. I have no doubt at all that Kings Road Church will continue to grow under the leadership of Ray and the committed team of Elders that have supported me so well.” Ron White one of the leadership team said “That the church would greatly miss Billy, and while we very much hope that he will be able to visit us, the time has come for us to look forward to Ray Toms arrival and what more God has in store for us as we seek to go forward with Him”.

The church began in 1870 when a few Christians met in Castle Street with the aim of worshipping together on New Testament lines. In 1874 it moved to its present site in Kings Road, although Sunday services are now held at Bridgewater School in Berkhamsted, due to the need to accommodate a growing congregation.
